Application
Before application, your vehicle is thoroughly washed. It is then sprayed with Detailing Liquid on all painted surfaces as part of the surface preparation procedure.
If required, paint correction is conducted on your vehicle. This will usually be an additional cost.
Your car is then treated to a process called “claying” where we use a non-abrasive Clay Bar to remove all surface decontaminants. After this process up to 50ml a 9H Infuse Ceramic Coating is applied to painted surfaces, mags and headlights.
The vehicle is then covered for 24 – 48 hours with a clear HDPE cover sheet while the coating cures.
Dispelling the myths about Ceramic Coatings
- Will Ceramic Coatings retain gloss for longer? Yes
- Can Ceramic Coatings prevent scratches or stone chips? No
- Will a Ceramic Coating last 5 – 7 years? No, that is why re-applications are applied at recommended intervals.
- Will a ceramic coating hide scratches? They could even highlight scratches because the car will be shinier.
- I just paid R10 000 for another ceramic coating, did I pay too much? Yes. A quality 9H Ceramic coating should cost you anything from R4500 – R6500 depending on the size of the car and labour required.
- Why not just go for a nano coating for a quarter of the price? Nano coatings are excellent value for money and highly recommended but require reapplication in intervals of 6 – 12 months.
- How do I protect my ceramic coating? After cleaning your car, spray coated surfaces with the Ceramic Nano Shield supplied in your maintenance kit.
- How long will my paintwork remain hydrophobic? Although a ceramic coating lasts years, the hydrophobic effect disappears after a few months, weather dependant.
Conclusion
Ceramic Coatings are great, but they have limitations. If you are serious about retaining your car’s gloss and appearance, it’s highly recommended.
